MUSCAT: Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, the Minister of Energy and Minerals, said here on Tuesday that supporting regulations for Oman’s new green hydrogen industry should be out by the end of the first quarter of 2023.
At the Green Hydrogen Summit Oman 2022, which is taking place in the city, Al Aufi urged interested investors to go ahead and register their interest on a new platform set up by the Omani government to make sure that green hydrogen projects in the Sultanate of Oman are developed in a clear and efficient way.
Hydrom, the new leader of the green hydrogen sector in the Sultanate of Oman, is in charge of running the platform.
He promised that, until formal rules came out, his office would be open to any serious investor who wanted to ask questions or get reassurances about their investments.
“Please visit the website, let them know you’re interested, and then come talk to us. And if there are still problems that can’t be solved, you can come to my office,” he stressed.
The Minister said that the framework for developing the sector, which was first shown to the public in October, will continue to be used as a guide for anyone who wants to join Oman’s new green hydrogen industry. He said that the policies and rules that will come out early next year will only make this framework official.
He asked international investors to be “brave” in their plans to invest in Oman and promised to “break down all barriers” that might be stopping them. “ Believe that this is the way to go —
We’re here to help, but if we slow you down, come to my office and give me a knock. “We will get rid of every obstacle for you,” Al Aufi said.
