Abu Dhabi: Oman and Etihad Rail Company (OERC) and Jindal Shaded Iron and Steel (Jindal) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Through the UAE-Oman Rail Network, the MoU wants to set up a sustainable end-to-end transport and logistics solution between Jindal’s steel complex at Sohar Port and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
As part of OERC’s promise to provide efficient and cost-effective logistics solutions for major global players in different industries, the MoU will let Jindal move up to 4 million tons of raw materials and finished products from its steel complex at Sohar Port to the UAE markets every year.

Under the terms of the agreement, OERC will use its modern train network to help Jindal improve operational integration by making loading and unloading easier and making sure Jindal has the iron ore and steel it needs for its rolling stock and facilities.
Mohammed Zahran Al Mahrouqi, Deputy CEO of OERC, said of the agreement, “Our partnership with Jindal Shadeed Group strengthens Oman and Etihad Rail Company’s commitment to improving logistics services to meet the future needs and expectations of our customers by providing comprehensive solutions and encouraging the growth of various industrial sectors in Oman and the UAE.” Also, the MoU will help Jindal improve the effectiveness of its supply chain by taking advantage of the fast, affordable, and sustainable services of the UAE-Oman Rail Network.
