Muscat: The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) stated that the Invest Oman Lounge has 36 investment opportunities worth a total of OMR 1.5 billion in 36 different industries.
The Director General of Economic Diversification at OIA, Hisham Ahmed Al Sheedi, said that these business opportunities could help OIA and other government and private organisations work better together. He said that the possibilities are spread across a number of important investment areas, such as technology, utilities (like electricity), tourism, fisheries, food, mining, and health.

In an interview released in OIA’s “Injaz & Ijaz” newsletter for the first quarter of 2023, Al Sheedi said that the investments on offer are just the beginning of a list that is likely to grow as more viability studies are done. He also said that experts in the lounge will talk to the investor about investment options as a first step.
On the list are many IT projects, like programming, engineering solutions, and blockchains. There are also tourism projects, like the 3rd phase of Yiti and Yankit Sustainable Cities, a multi-facility entertainment destination in Barka, and a logistic gate project at the Economic Free Zone within Muscat International Airport. There are also a number of food security and fisheries projects, such as raising fish and prawns, fattening tuna in big floating cages, making fish feed, and canning and packaging marine products. Mine projects like those involving commercial minerals like copper, magnesium, and silicon are also on the list.
