PY Caunan, who works for the DMW and is in charge of policy and international cooperation, said that Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, and Qatar have all said they want to hire Filipino workers.
Caunan said that Saudi Arabia said it wanted to hire about 1 million Filipinos for new jobs during the last time DMW Secretary Susan Ople went to Riyadh.

She said that the DMW will put these job openings in the special hiring program that the department will soon start.
“This special hiring program would make sure that people in Saudi Arabia have more options when it comes to jobs,” she said.
Caunan said that the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia, which is like the DMW, has given the department its full backing.
The DMW has also set up a meeting between its committee and the same body in the UAE.
Caunan said, “Expect that in the next few weeks, we will have a series of meetings and talks with different stakeholders, including our OFWs, to hear all of their concerns about our deployment in the UAE, from both the private recruitment agencies and our OFWs.”
